Replit alternatives, from code editors to website tools
Seven tools people use instead of Replit, checked on their own pricing pages on 9 October 2026: a cloud dev environment, an AI code editor, app builders and website tools, with where Laarpi is the wrong choice.
Replit is a coding platform with an agent: you describe an app or a site, and it builds, runs and hosts it. Its paid plans start at $20 a month. Most Replit alternatives are other coding tools, and the right one depends on what you use Replit for: writing code, building apps by chat, or making a website. This page sorts seven alternatives that way, with facts from each tool's own pricing page and docs, checked on 9 October 2026. The table is alphabetical, with Laarpi last, and Laarpi is only an alternative if what you make on Replit is a website. The compare hub has Laarpi next to Lovable, Bolt, v0 and more.
What Replit covers, and why people look elsewhere
Replit calls itself an app and website builder. You describe what you want, and its agent builds it in a cloud workspace with authentication, a database, hosting and monitoring built in. Its home page lists apps, websites and landing pages among the things to build, and its docs walk through launching a landing page with a working form.
The free Starter plan includes daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, and one published app that goes down after 30 days and carries a "Made with Replit" badge. Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, with $20 a month towards more powerful models, unlimited published apps and up to 5 builders in a workspace. Pro is $100 a month, or $90 billed yearly, with up to 15 collaborators.
The reasons people look elsewhere fall into three groups:
- Cost as usage grows. Monthly credits pay for the agent, publishing, network transfer and database storage, so a growing project draws more.
- Working locally. Some developers want their own editor, on their own machine, with the code in their own repository.
- A narrower tool. If you only make one kind of thing, such as interfaces, apps without code or websites, a tool built for that job can fit better.
Replit and seven alternatives, side by side
Facts are from each tool's own pricing page and docs on 9 October 2026. Prices are entry prices in US dollars, as each page states them.

Credits, tokens, messages and core hours measure different things, so compare what you get done in a month rather than the numbers. We have not run a side-by-side test of these tools, and this page makes no claim about which produces the best result.
If you write code
GitHub Codespaces: a cloud environment for your repository
GitHub Codespaces gives you a configured development environment in the cloud for a GitHub repository, on machines from 2 to 32 cores, which you open in the browser or from a local editor such as Visual Studio Code. Personal accounts get a monthly allowance: 120 core hours and 15 GB of storage on GitHub Free, which is 60 hours on a 2-core machine, and 180 core hours and 20 GB on GitHub Pro. Beyond that you pay as you go, from $0.18 an hour on 2 cores and $0.07 per GB of storage a month. Organisation plans include no free allowance.
It suits developers who like opening a project in the browser, as on Replit, but want the code to live in a GitHub repository.
Cursor: an agent inside your editor
Cursor is a code editor with AI agents that you download to your computer, so the project lives in your own files and repository. The free Hobby plan includes limited Agent requests and needs no credit card. Pro is $20 a month, with higher tiers above it, and Teams is $40 per user a month.
It suits developers who want an agent working in their existing codebase, with every change reviewable in their own tools.
If you build apps by chat
Bolt.new: apps and sites in the browser
Bolt describes itself as a website and app builder, and you work with it by chat in the browser. The free plan includes 1M tokens a month with a daily limit of 300K, website hosting, unlimited databases and Bolt branding on sites. Pro is $25 a month billed monthly: 10M tokens a month to start, no daily limit, unused tokens rolling over, custom domain support and no branding. Yearly billing saves up to 28%. Laarpi vs Bolt compares it with Laarpi in detail.
Lovable: full-stack apps without code
Lovable describes itself as an AI software engineer that builds websites and web apps from a chat, with hosting and a built-in backend called Lovable Cloud. The free plan includes 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month; Pro is $25 a month for 100 credits, and Business $50 a month. If you are weighing it against others too, our page of Lovable alternatives sorts them by what you are building, and Laarpi vs Lovable covers the one-to-one comparison.
v0: interfaces and apps on Vercel
v0 is Vercel's agent for writing real code, interfaces and full-stack apps, with one-click deployment to Vercel. The free plan includes $5 of one-time credits for new users, a limit of 7 messages a day, Design Mode for visual edits and GitHub sync. Plus is $30 per user a month, shown on 9 October 2026 as reduced from $90, with $30 of included credits per user. Laarpi vs v0 goes further.
If what you make on Replit is a website
Replit builds landing pages and sites as well as apps. If websites are most of what you make there, two tools built only for websites are worth comparing.
Framer: lay out the site yourself
Framer is a visual site builder with AI agents, a CMS and hosting. The free plan publishes on a Framer domain with 500 AI credits to try. Basic is $10 a month per site, billed yearly, with 30 pages, 2 CMS collections, 1,000 AI credits a month and your own domain; Pro is $30 a month, with 150 pages and 10 CMS collections. See Laarpi vs Framer.
Laarpi: describe the website, with the design planned in
Laarpi is in private beta, and it builds websites only. You describe the site. Laarpi's agent, SI, asks the few questions that change the result, as cards with options, then writes a brief you can edit: concept, palette, type, sections and motion. It builds the site live, you direct it in words or by pointing at the page, and you publish to a laarpi.site address. The site is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, which you can read and edit beside the preview, and every version stays in its history. How it works shows each step.

BASALT Tapes is a concept release page for a fictional label's LP: an obsidian slab you light with the cursor breaks into the record's eight hours as you scroll. On our throttled phone profile (slow 4G, CPU slowed four times) its first frame with the glass drawn arrived in 3.1 seconds, and the page transferred 299 KB, measured on 6 October 2026. Like every showcase site, it was made by the Laarpi team with Laarpi's library and process, with people steering every step, not produced end to end by SI. The write-up covers how it was built.
Sign-in and forms run on your own Supabase project, and checkout on your own Polar account. Basic is $20 a month with 150 credits and up to 3 projects; Pro is $50 a month, or $40 billed yearly. How an agent for websites differs from a general builder is set out on vibe coding websites.
Who each one is for
- Stay with Replit if you want one workspace that writes, runs and hosts apps and sites, with an agent and databases built in.
- GitHub Codespaces suits developers who want a cloud environment for a GitHub repository.
- Cursor suits developers who want an agent inside an editor on their own machine.
- Bolt.new suits people who want to build apps and sites by chat in the browser, with hosting included.
- Lovable suits people building full-stack web apps without code, with a backend included.
- v0 suits product teams and developers who build interfaces and ship on Vercel.
- Framer suits people making a website who want to lay out every element themselves.
- Laarpi suits people whose Replit projects are really websites, such as a launch page, a portfolio or a brand site, and who would rather describe the site, with motion and 3D planned into the brief.
Where Laarpi is the wrong choice
For anything on Replit that isn't a website, Laarpi is not an alternative at all.
- Anything that isn't a website. Scripts, APIs, bots, data work, games, mobile apps and coursework belong in Replit, Codespaces or Cursor.
- An app with accounts, dashboards and records. Laarpi can put sign-in and forms on your own Supabase project behind a website, but it is not an app builder. Lovable, Bolt.new, v0 or Replit fit.
- Working in your own repository. Downloading a site's code is planned, not available. Codespaces and Cursor work in your repository from the start.
- A team in one workspace. A shared team workspace is planned. Replit Core includes up to 5 builders, and Pro up to 15 collaborators.
- Other languages. Laarpi writes HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the site. It doesn't run Python or host servers.
